Are Democrats & Republicans just either side of the same coin?

Both politcal parties are consumed with corruption. Pet projects, waste, elitsim, ect.,. I believe in the conservative values the republican party is SUPPOSED to represent. But I do believe, now more so than ever, that politcal parties are either side of the same coin
