Cheapest States for Establishing an LLC?

I'm looking to establish a Limited Liability Company, in order to protect my trademarks and copyrights. Do most states have the same basic filing fees? Is it mandatory to file an "Articles of Organization" in most states as well, or is it sufficient to simply register the business?
