Where can this 18 year old high school graduate go immediately, from here?

I graduated in May, turned 18 in June. I was hoping I'd have a pretty good start into adulthood, but because I was living with my mom, I ended up having to move with her into her boyfriend's house. All through high school, I was foolish enough to never get a job, never get a license, and never apply for colleges. I consider myself to be intelligent, but I was always cynical about those types of things. Now, being in this house and not really being independent is really wearing away my self-esteem. Everyone tells me that the best solution is to get a job, but I don't consider my housing situation to be stable enough to be at a job on time. I am asking: is there is a way I can finally be on my own before the end of the year? What should I try?
