What were Voltaire's influences on the French Revolution?

I would like to know how exactly Voltaire's writing influenced things in the French Revolution. I know he believed in the Enlightenment and that, and wrote against the government, criticizing it and such, but I'm not sure precisely how his work influenced the Revolution.
