this is going to be difficult to explain, but i know a guy that lives out in the country and he hung around with others that like to swing and then one day he got this idea to buy this great big commerical size swing set that some parks use and you could get like three swings going at the same time and one day he had a party out there and some people were swinging on the swing and he decided to have a contest to see who could swing on the swing the highest and about the fifth or sixth contestants were on the swing, swinging and then a weld broke on the top bar that held the swing and the swingers went flying off the swing and when they landed the guy landed funny and did major damange to hisself and an ambulance was called and then the police got there and there was lots of red faced people and they were all jumping around and excited because of the accident and to make a long story short, that's how swing dancing was invented.
